About Us
The Aunt Black’s Story
I was raised in a family of amazing cooks. I’m Mother, Daddy, and Grandma taught. The name Aunt Black was my grandmother’s nickname growing up that the entire Family called her in a small town in MS called Laurel, MS. She spent all of her life in MS and retired at home. She always knew how to cook so she began cooking and showing love through her home-cooked food.
Who We Are & Where we come from:
She taught me how to cook at an early age. I was just a little boy standing knee-high to my grandmother learning how to cook while she prepared, cut vegetables, and cooked from scratch for our family or community to feast on. She always said that if you want to feel loved; feed a soul from scratch. That’s why she called her food “Soul Food”. Her, Mom, & Dad taught me everything I know from measuring food to not having to use a measuring device. Because like They used to say when you know you know.
